Ben Liu

Ben Liu is the CEO and co-founder of Formation Bio, an AI-native pharmaceutical company working to bring new treatments to patients faster and more efficiently. Trained as a computational biologist, he earned his doctorate at Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar, where his research combined machine learning with large healthcare datasets to develop diagnostics and treatments for neurodegenerative diseases. That work led him to identify clinical development, rather than discovery, as the central bottleneck in drug development — the thesis behind the company he founded in 2016. He has since led Formation Bio's collaboration with OpenAI and Sanofi on custom models built for drug development.
